PlantBasedPopUp is throwing a wine tasting party on Sunday, October 21 to raise funds for The Humane League and to help bring awareness to animal rights bill, Proposition 12 (‘YesOn12’), ahead of the November 6 mid-term elections.
We are stepping outside our traditional subscriber-only pop-up dinners to have an event open to the public as we rally together for a good cause. In partnership with Choice Juicery, we are excited to invite guests to enjoy an open wine bar and taste some delicious wines from the Santa Barbra-based winery Pali Wine Co. at their Little Italy tasting room. Also, a selection of plant-based appetizers will be provided – like vegan cheese boards and flat breads – as well as tastes from Choice Juicery, like their superfood pumpkin muffin, suntuna pâté and more!
Tickets are $45 (of which 10 percent will be donated directly to The Humane League).
Join us for fine wine and good times…all for a good cause! Tickets available HERE.
The Humane League will speak briefly (at 6:15 p.m.) about the great work they are doing in San Diego and beyond and why voting YES on Prop 12 on Nov. 6 is important!
Donations to The Humane League at the event are encouraged; they will be easy to make...and are much appreciated and needed to support their continued farm animal reform and efforts to create a more compassionate food system.
So grab a friend, spread the word (Facebook event HERE) and we hope to see you there!
About Prop 12: It’s a common-sense measure that bans the extreme confinement of veal calves, sows and egg-laying hens housed in tiny cages their entire lives within industrial “factory farms.” Proposition 12 also ensures that products sold in California come from cage-free environments. (The Humane Society was the main sponsor of Prop 12.)
About The Humane League: The Humane League's mission is to reduce animal suffering by creating change at all levels. They work to reform the way farm animals are treated while also inspiring people to make more compassionate food choices. Our strategy includes hard-hitting corporate campaigns and wide-ranging outreach and education programs, supported by an extensive network of organizations, activists and supporters around the world. (They have a large presence in San Diego, and is one of the non-profit backers of the YesOn12 initiative.)
About Choice Juicery: Choice Super Food Bar & Juicery serves up 100% organic pressed juice, as well as a selection of delectable salads, snacks and other food items that are all vegan. They have a number of locations across San Diego County, and opened their newest location in the heart of Little Italy (on India St. just north of Ash.)
About Pali Wine Co.: Pali Wine Co.’s San Diego Wine tasting room is located near the heart of Little Italy and is the latest spot to go wine tasting in San Diego! Pali wine makes some of the best Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Central Coast and is always whipping up some delicious food pairings to complement its wines. Pali began in 2005 when entrepreneurs Tim Perr and Scott Knight pooled their resources and their passions to found a winery dedicated to producing small lots of artisanal Pinot Noir, their favorite varietal.
